Hamner & Carnicella Set for American Collegiate Wild Card Playoffs

ORLANDO, Fla. – Sarah Hamner and Kaitlyn Carnicella of the South Carolina women’s tennis team are set to compete in the 2025 American Collegiate Wild Card Playoffs, hosted at the USTA Campus in Orlando from June 16-18.

Hamner and Carnicella are slated to play DJ Bennett and Ava Hrastar of Auburn on Tuesday, June 17 at 5:00 p.m. The winner of the match will move on to the next round on Wednesday evening to face Olivia Center and Kate Fakih of UCLA or Reeese Brantmeier and Alanis Hamilton of North Carolina for a chance to earn a main draw U.S. Open Wild Card.

The event is free to attend with matches beginning at 5:00 p.m. each day. Matches will also be streamed on the USTA National Campus website.

The two duos met twice during the 2024-25 season. In conference play, South Carolina pulled off a 4-2 upset over then-No. 6 Auburn. Although Hamner and Carnicella put up a fight in doubles, they fell 6-2 to Bennett and Hrastar. In singles, Carnicella sealed the win for the Gamecocks with a three-set comeback over Hrastar. The pairs also squared off during the fall at the ITA All-American Championships, where Hamner and Carnicella came out on top with a 6-3, 1-6, 10-5 victory.
