South Carolina Athletics

The Gamecocks are 2-0 in their challenge games under head coach Lamont Paris with wins over Notre Dame in 2023 and Boston College in 2024

BRISTOL, Conn. – ESPN announced the matchups for the 2025 edition of the ACC/SEC Challenge on Thursday. South Carolina will host Virginia Tech at Colonial Life Arena on Tuesday, Dec. 2.

Tip times and TV network assignments will be designated at a later date.

The challenge started in 2023 and the Gamecocks are 2-0 with wins at home over Notre Dame in 2023 and at Boston College last season.

The SEC went 14-2 in games last season and the two power leagues tied, 7-7, in the inaugural slate of games in 2023.

South Carolina leads the all-time series with the Hokies, 20-13. The Gamecocks beat the Hokies, 79-77, in the second game of the season in 2023 at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte in what was the first matchup between the two schools since 1997. B.J. Mack scored the go-ahead basket with 20 seconds left as he finished with 19 points and six rebounds. It was head coach Lamont Paris’ 100th career victory.

The Gamecocks beat Virgina Tech again, 70-60, last season on a neutral floor in the third-place game of the Beach Division at the Fort Myers Tip-Off. Carolina hit 11 3s in the game led by 16 points, eight rebounds, three steals and two blocks from All-SEC forward Collin Murray-Boyles.
